How to get a Google review removed

Google removes a review only if it breaks a Google policy. A review that is negative, unfair or one you disagree with stays. Owners cannot delete reviews; they can report them.

Reviews Google will remove

Google's contribution policy lists what is not allowed. The rules most owners can use:

Google says not to report a review just because you disagree with it, and that it does not get involved when a business and a customer disagree about facts (Report inappropriate reviews).

Report one review from your profile

  1. Open your Business Profile and select Read reviews.
  2. Next to the review, select Report.
  3. Pick the reason that matches the policy it breaks and select Send.

Google says evaluation typically takes several days.

Track it in the Reviews Management Tool

The Reviews Management Tool lets you report reviews and see the status of earlier reports:

What breaks your own profile

The same policy forbids offering a customer an incentive to change or remove a negative review, discouraging negative reviews, and asking only happy customers for reviews (Rating Manipulation). Offering a discount for a deleted review can cost you more than the review.

When a review stays, reply. Google notifies the reviewer, who can then edit the review.

Google says evaluation typically takes several days. Track it in the Reviews Management Tool.
