App review reply templates
Pick the complaint, the tone and the store, and get a reply to a negative App Store or Google Play review that follows Apple's and Google's published response rules.
Google's Play Developer API says replies of more than approximately 350 characters are rejected (reviews.reply). Google Play drafts drop optional sentences to stay under it.
The rules every template follows
- Short and specific. Apple: the ideal response is concise and clearly addresses the customer's feedback (Apple). Google: directly address the user's comment, be clear and truthful (Google Play).
- No marketing. Apple: no personal information, marketing language or spam. Google: don't solicit or promote. So no upsells, discount codes or links to other apps.
- Nothing you can't back up. The status menu only offers "looking into it", "fix in progress" and "fixed in version …". There are no dates and no promises.
- Billing on the App Store goes to Apple. Apple asks developers to direct reviewers with billing or download problems to Apple Support, so the iOS pricing template does. On Google Play, Google says the developer can often help with refunds fastest, so the template offers both routes (Google Play refund policies).
- Personalise before you post. Apple recommends personalised responses over generic ones for similar reviews. Use "Another wording", add the detail the reviewer gave and remove anything that doesn't fit.
- Don't reply to abuse. Apple: use Report a Concern for offensive or spam reviews. Google: don't engage with inappropriate comments, report them.
- Reply again after the fix. Apple suggests mentioning fixes in the release notes and replying to the reviews that reported them. On both stores the reviewer is notified and can update the review.

FAQ
Is it free?
Yes. The templates run in your browser. No sign-up, nothing is sent to us.
Is there a length limit for replies?
Google's Play Developer API documentation says replies of more than approximately 350 characters are rejected, so Google Play drafts are kept under that. Apple's developer pages we cite give no character limit; they ask for concise responses.
Can I offer a refund in my reply?
On the App Store, Apple asks developers to send billing issues to Apple Support. On Google Play, Google says the developer can often help with refunds fastest. Either way, keep promotions and discount codes out of the reply.
Should I reply to every negative review?
Apple suggests prioritising the lowest ratings and reviews about technical issues in the current version, and replying again once an update fixes the problem.
