What Google's guidelines say

Common ways owners break it

Fix it

  1. Put a number you own, ideally a local landline or mobile for that location, on the profile and on your website.
  2. Remove other businesses' or agencies' numbers.
  3. Keep a recent phone bill in the business name: Google can ask for documents that match the profile.

How to appeal once the cause is fixed

  1. Fix the cause on the profile first. Google says the name and address on your profile must match the name and address on your documents (Fix suspended or disabled profiles).
  2. Gather proof Google lists as examples: business registration, business licence, tax certificate, utility bill. Photos of permanent signage and of the premises help.
  3. Open the appeals tool from your profile. It shows the date, the reason, a link to the policy and whether the decision can be appealed.
  4. Submit once, carefully. Google says "Appeals can only be submitted once", and the evidence form has to be completed within 60 minutes of starting it.
  5. Do not create a new profile while you wait. Google tells owners not to.

Step-by-step wording: what to write in the appeal (template + evidence checklist).

FAQ

Can I use call tracking at all?

Google's guidelines ask for a number that connects directly to your location and is under your direct control. A number that redirects to someone else's landing page or service is not allowed.

Can I list a second number?

Google says additional numbers are fine on your Business Profile website.

Is a premium number OK if the rate is low?

No. Google says premium-rate numbers are not acceptable regardless of the rate.
