Your profile is not showing on Google Maps
A profile can be missing from Maps for three very different reasons: it is suspended, it is not verified, or it is live but ranks too low for the search you tried. Find out which one before you change anything.
Not sure which rule you broke?
Start with the free suspension risk checker: answer 13 quick questions and get a risk score plus the Google rule and fix guide behind each point. Nothing is sent to us.
Or let a person do it: ProfileRescue checks your listing and website against each guideline, ranks the likely causes for your case and writes the appeal text plus an evidence checklist, in English and Spanish, as a PDF for €29 (launch price, €49 from 1 Dec 2026). We cannot reinstate profiles or remove reviews, and we say so plainly.

Profile is live but nobody finds it? The Google profile audit (€19) checks completeness, photos, categories and your latest reviews against Google's own ranking advice and gives you a ranked fix list (built for restaurants, cafés and shops). How the audit works.
1. Is it suspended or disabled?
Open the profile as the owner. A suspension or "disabled" notice shows there, and the appeals tool tells you the reason (Fix suspended or disabled profiles). If it is suspended, start with Google Business Profile suspended: what to do.
2. Is it verified?
Profiles that are not verified, or that need re-verification after an edit, may not show fully. Google says re-verification is likely after details were recently updated, that the method is chosen by Google, and that you should not edit the name, address or category while a postcard is pending (verification help).
3. Is it live but ranking low?
Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, and that "there's no way to request or pay for a better local ranking" (Tips to improve your local ranking on Google). What Google suggests instead:
- Complete every field: categories, hours, services, description.
- Keep hours accurate, including special hours.
- Respond to reviews.
- Add photos.
Distance matters: searching from your own street and from across town gives different results. Test in a private window, from the area your customers search from.
Things that make it worse
- Stuffing keywords or the city into the name to rank. It breaks the Guidelines for representing your business on Google and can get the profile suspended.
- Creating a second profile "to start fresh".
- Buying reviews. Google's contribution policy treats that as fake engagement.
FAQ
Can I pay Google to rank higher on Maps?
Google says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. Ads are separate and are labelled as ads.
Why do I see my business but my customers don't?
Distance is one of the three main factors Google names, so results change with where the search is made from.
Will adding my city to the name help?
It breaks Google's name guidelines unless the city is part of your real name, and it can lead to a suspension.
