Why does an Amazon product get 1-star reviews?

Across products, the same reasons come back. What differs is the mix, which is why you need your own numbers.

  1. Defective on arrival / poor quality – product fix: factory QC.
  2. Not as described – listing fix: claims, photos and colours must match the real unit.
  3. Size or fit – listing fix: dimensions in cm and inches, a size chart and a scale photo.
  4. Fails after weeks – product fix: reinforce what breaks.
  5. Shipping damage – packaging fix.
  6. Missing parts – a "what's included" image and a packing check.
  7. Hard setup / bad instructions – a quick-start card and a video link.
  8. Battery / power – state real-world battery life.
  9. Compatibility – list what it does and does not work with.
  10. Smell, value, used items, service – smaller but often severe.

In our Echo Dot sample, only about 1 in 5 complaints looked preventable with a clearer listing; the rest were performance, software and durability. For a typical private-label product the mix is often very different.

Revunda Amazon 1-Star Report measures the mix for any Amazon product from its recent 1–3★ reviews.

Launch prices: €12 for 1 product, €29 for 3 products. These launch prices end on 30 November 2026 or after the first 20 orders, whichever comes first. After that the regular prices are €19 and €39.
