Free app complaint check
Also free: an App Store rating badge for your site, and complaint reports for 216 popular apps.
How the check works
- Paste an App Store link (
apps.apple.com/…/id123456789), the numeric App Store ID, a Google Play link (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=…) or a package name such ascom.spotify.music. - The check reads the latest 50 public reviews from the app's storefront (the country in the link, e.g. apps.apple.com/de/…, else US; topped up with US reviews if the local feed is thin): Apple's public review feed for iOS apps, the public Google Play listing for Android apps.
- An AI model (TypeSafe Jev) sorts every 1–3★ review into 7 themes: bugs, crashes / freezes, feature requests, pricing / subscription, UX / design, ads and performance. One review can count for several themes.
- You get the 3 most frequent themes, how many reviews mention each, and a representative quote (up to 280 characters) with its star rating.
- App Store apps also see their rating next to the median rating of the top free apps in the same category (same storefront). For Google Play apps the check looks for the same app on the App Store.
Limits
You can run 20 checks per day, and repeat checks count. Results are cached per app for the day, so checking the same app again shows the same themes until the next day (UTC). A shared daily cap applies to all visitors; when it is reached, the check asks you to come back tomorrow.
FAQ
Why does it say there are no recent reviews?
The check reads the storefront in the link (else US) and tops a thin feed up with US reviews. If Apple's feed or Google Play still has no recent reviews for the app, there is nothing to classify. The paid reports read more storefronts and languages.
How accurate are the themes?
Counts and quotes come straight from the reviews. The AI label on a single review can be wrong, which is why every theme shows a quote you can check.
Do you store my link or IP address?
The daily limit uses a salted hash of your IP address; the IP itself is not stored. The result is cached per app for the day.
What does the full report add?
The €19 App Store report reads up to ~300 recent reviews from up to 15 storefronts and adds severity, trend by app version and the 10 most important fixes (sample: Slack). The €9 Google Play report reads up to 600 reviews in up to 10 languages; both stores cost €15.
Can I run the check from code?
Yes. GET /api/check?url=… returns the same result as JSON. Parameters, limits and examples are in the developer docs.
